چکیده

Iran faces significant challenges in water management due to fragmented governance, economic constraints, and environmental degradation. Centralized decision-making impedes local responsiveness, while inconsistent policies exacerbate sectoral conflicts. Outdated infrastructure, limited technology adoption, and local mismanagement further hinder effective water use. Basin management, promoting integrated and localized approaches, offers a promising solution by enhancing coordination, sustainability, and economic efficiency. Comprehensive reforms, infrastructure investments, and active stakeholder participation are essential to achieving a resilient water management system in Iran. This study underscores the need for integrated strategies to address the complex interplay of macro and micro political and executive structures in managing Iran water resources.
